Ten Hag: Don’t Rush to Judge Us; I’ve Led Manchester United to the Finals Every Year Before

On October 4th, in the second round of the Europa League, Manchester United drew 3-3 with Porto away from home. At the post-match press conference, Ten Hag offered his thoughts on the match.

Ten Hag spoke about the game saying, “We had a good start and took an early 2-0 lead, but we didn’t play well after that and conceded three consecutive goals, allowing them to take the lead. However, even when we were trailing 2-3 in a tough situation, we held on and managed to equalize. We need to improve our ball control and transition between attack and defense. Also, we need to strengthen our defense. In the recent past, we had kept clean sheets for three consecutive matches, and now our defense needs to regain that form.”

Ten Hag then talked about adjustments made during the game, “In a long season, we must maintain rotation, so we substituted Rashford at halftime and did not include Garnacho in the starting lineup. Our focus now shifts to the away game against Aston Villa, who will have had one more day of rest than us.”

Ten Hag also addressed the pressure he is facing, “It’s only the beginning of the season, don’t rush to judge us; it’s not too late to evaluate us by the end of the season, the team will improve. In the past two seasons, we’ve reached the finals in cup competitions, and the team will continue to fight. The players have a strong desire to win and achieve good results, and we have a positive mindset. Of course, we still need to strengthen our defense.”
