Ten Hag Explains Sancho's Absence from Squad: He Had an Ear Infection, I Chose the Fittest Players

On August 17th, in the first round of the Premier League, Manchester United secured a 1-0 victory over Fulham. In this match, Sancho was not included in Manchester United’s squad. After the game, Ten Hag, Manchester United’s manager, explained his absence, stating it was due to Sancho’s ear infection.

Ten Hag said regarding Sancho’s absence: “He had an ear infection and couldn’t fully adapt to the pace of the game. Although Sancho could still play, if given the choice, I would pick players who are more suitable for this match. I can only include the 20 players who are best suited for this game in the squad, as we need sufficient depth in our team.”

Ten Hag continued: “In this long season, we cannot use the same players in every game; we need adequate substitutes and maintain balance. Not being included in the squad will certainly disappoint the players, but we have many matches to play, and everyone will get playing time. The players need to prove their worth.”
