Recently, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag gave an exclusive interview to Sky Sports.
Ten Hag said: “For a long time, Manchester United has been in a transitional period. From the moment I joined the team, we knew changes had to be made. We needed to replace some veterans and bring in new players. We chose to introduce young players, and as you know, getting them to understand our philosophy, accept our playing style, and introduce a new culture takes time. At the same time, we also need to win. I believe that over the past two years, we have proven ourselves and achieved victories. Throughout my career, I have always shown my ability to win titles. In the last six years, I’ve won eight trophies. We need to deeply embed our playing style and build a stronger team. Therefore, we must address existing problems and find solutions. We have excellent players, and once the new style is deeply embedded, we will go all out. I believe we can achieve the goals set for this season.”
“Solving the fundamental issues of the team won’t be easy, but it’s not something that causes me panic because during the season, my team often faces these issues. We will achieve success this season.”
“I’ve been in constant communication with the owners and management, discussing how to improve this process. We are all very impatient, and so are the fans, who have the right to be. But we are also very impatient; we want to win every game, and when we lose, everyone is disappointed, everyone is frustrated. This is also the motivation for us to get better.”
When asked if he would be sacked if the next two games do not yield good results, Ten Hag responded: “I haven’t thought about it much or rushed. We established a united atmosphere with the owners and leadership this summer. We reached this agreement, and we all support it. We also know that the strategy is to introduce young players during the transition period. They also know that in the past six seasons, there have always been trophies in May. This is also our current goal.”
