In response to recent rumors circulating online about the Chinese team bringing their own air conditioners and mattresses to Paris, Zhang Xin, Secretary-General of the Chinese sports delegation, stated that all these claims are false.
Zhang Xin mentioned in an interview that the Olympic Village has various cooling methods installed, including central air conditioning, water circulation cooling, and electric fans, depending on the room type and floor. According to the local weather in Paris, everyone’s experience with accommodation is similar.
He said, “There have been reports online claiming that we brought over 300 air conditioners, which is not true. The Olympic Village offers mobile air conditioner rental services, and the delegation may consider renting them if needed based on the weather conditions.”
Zhang Xin also refuted the claim that athletes brought their own mattresses to Paris: “Online self-media saw a mattress and speculated that the entire delegation brought their own mattresses, which is another false report.”
Zhang Xin further commented that the athletes from various teams are generally satisfied with the catering services and basic facilities at the Olympic Village: “Outstanding athletic performances depend on long-term preparation and stable performance during competitions. The vast majority of athletes and coaches from the Chinese sports delegation frequently participate in various international competitions and have developed the ability to excel under pressure. They are not like flowers grown in greenhouses; they can actively overcome various discomforts and adjust their state in a timely manner.”
