Today, Borussia Dortmund officially announced that central defender Mats Hummels will depart the team this summer. Coupled with the previous announcement of Marco Reus’s departure, this means that all 11 players who reached the UEFA Champions League final in the 2012-13 season for Dortmund have now left the club.
The above picture shows the starting eleven of Borussia Dortmund for the 2013 Champions League final: Weidenfeller, Schmelzer, Subotic, Hummels, Piszczek, Sven Bender, Gundogan, Reus, Grosskreutz, Kuba, and Lewandowski.
Hummels and Reus were the only two players who represented Dortmund in both the 2013 and 2024 Champions League finals. However, their respective announcements to leave this summer signal the end of an era for the German club.
