On July 18, according to The Sun, a hockey pitch in Inverness, Scotland was forced to close due to attacks by seagulls. The pitch, which is used not only for hockey matches but also for five-a-side football games, has been affected.
The Highland Hockey Club confirmed that the constant presence of seagulls has left the pitch in a mess, making it impossible to conduct regular training and matches. For health and safety reasons, the decision was made to close the pitch. It is currently unknown when operations will resume, pending further notice from the club.
The Highland Club stated that they had previously applied to relevant authorities for permission to remove nearby seagull nests and eggs but were denied, hindering a proper resolution to the issue.
The Highland Club plans to search for alternative venues in the coming period to ensure the team can continue with normal training and competition.
