According to British media The Sun, if the renovation plans for Stamford Bridge cannot proceed, they may choose to leave this historic home of over a hundred years and design a new futuristic stadium.
Previously, it was reported that if Chelsea proceeds with the planned renovation of Stamford Bridge, they would face a situation where they could not play there for six years. If they abandon the renovation, they might build an entirely new stadium and take inspiration from Real Madrid’s Bernabéu, designing a curved asymmetrical circular structure.
It is said that when Manchester United planned to build a new Old Trafford stadium, they also took inspiration from the Bernabéu, and now, AI has proposed many design ideas for Chelsea.
Some of these designs look strikingly similar to Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium, featuring glass panels on the exterior and a smooth appearance. Another design envisions a completely round structure with a retractable roof providing little cover for the audience below, resembling a flying saucer somewhat. Another design adopts an oval shape, including only two tiers of seating, with most designs being slightly larger than this.
Another interesting design for Chelsea’s potential new stadium is a wooden stadium – an idea proposed by its eco-friendly owner Dale Vince at Forest Green.
Chelsea hopes to build a new stadium capable of accommodating 60,000 people to remain competitive commercially with its rivals, which may mean rebuilding every stand at Stamford Bridge.
Architect Janet Marie Smith has already been hired to oversee the enormous task of renovating this famous Chelsea stadium, having been involved in the renovation of many stadiums in the United States.
