According to an exclusive report by The Sun, the Football Association may appoint a temporary manager to replace Gareth Southgate, with the current top candidate being U21 team coach Lee Carsley.
The report suggests that Carsley is expected to lead the England team in the UEFA Nations League matches this September.
It is understood that the FA’s senior management highly appreciates Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe, but they consider the best solution at present is to first appoint Carsley as an interim measure before confirming the next permanent manager.
The Sun states that the FA has already confirmed the launch of the managerial selection process and hopes to resolve the matter before the UEFA Nations League games in September. Besides Carsley and Eddie Howe, Potter, Tuchel, Klopp, and others are also seen by the outside world as potential candidates.
