Transfer Continues! Sevilla and Monterrey Reach Agreement, Ocampa Leaves for 7 Million Euros

According to reports from Spanish media such as ‘AS’, on September 2nd, Sevilla and Monterrey have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Argentine player Ocampa, with a transfer fee of approximately 7 million euros. Sevilla is now urgently seeking a replacement to strengthen their attacking line.

The 30-year-old Ocampa is about to leave Sevilla after playing for the club for five seasons. During this period, he helped the team reach the Champions League multiple times and won the Europa League twice. In these two championship campaigns, this Argentine winger played a key role. Two years ago, he was briefly loaned to Ajax for half a season, but after returning to Sevilla in January, he quickly became an important member of the team again. Ocampa’s departure not only loses one of the fans’ favorite players in recent years but also takes away a leader in the locker room.

After transferring to Monterrey, Ocampa will encounter two familiar faces from his time at Sevilla. The Mexican club signed former Sevilla midfielder Olivier Torres, whose contract had expired, this summer. Additionally, former Real Betis player Sergio Canales has become a fan favorite since joining the team at the beginning of last season. Notably, Monterrey’s head coach is the Argentine Diego Domenecalli, who specifically requested the club to bring in Ocampa, so Ocampa’s new journey in Mexico will not be lonely, and he has already signed a three-year contract with Monterrey.

Sevilla plans to sign a free agent during the international break period, with their top target being Memphis Depay.
