On June 13, Borussia Dortmund announced that Tuchel would no longer serve as head coach. Tuchel immediately shared his farewell message through the club’s official website.
Tuchel said, “Dear Borussia Dortmund, even though it truly saddens me to leave now, I bid farewell to the club starting from today. It was an immense honor to lead this great club to winning the German Cup and, most recently, reaching the Champions League final.
“After the final in Wembley, I had conversations with the club’s management. Having spent ten years at Dortmund, including five in the coaching staff and two and a half as head coach, I felt that the upcoming restart would come with a new season. Those who know me are aware of my emotions during the decision-making process in recent weeks. Even after intense discussions, my fundamental feeling remained unchanged. I always wish the best for Borussia Dortmund, not saying goodbye but rather, auf Wiedersehen. Heja BVB!”
