In the Round of 16 of the Euros, Bellingham equalized in stoppage time, and Kane scored the winning goal in extra time, securing England’s 2-1 comeback victory over Slovakia and progression to the quarterfinals.
Despite scoring only once in six group stage matches across the last two Euros, Kane has come alive in the knockout stages. In his last five elimination games at the Euros, he has netted a total of five goals. Including the 2022 World Cup knockouts, Kane has scored seven goals across his last seven major tournament knockout matches.
With this latest strike, Kane has now scored six goals in the Euros, tying Wayne Rooney for the second-most goals by an English player, only behind Alan Shearer’s record of seven goals.
This also marks Kane’s 14th goal in major international tournaments (World Cup/Euros), a record for an English player in these competitions.
