Two Years Ago Today, Alonso Officially Became the Head Coach of Bayer Leverkusen

On October 5, 2022, Bayer Leverkusen officially announced Alonso as the head coach of the first team.

In Alonso’s first complete season in charge (23/24 season), Bayer Leverkusen equalled the number of trophies won in the entire previous 119-year history of the club. The team clinched their first Bundesliga title with an undefeated record and also set a record for the longest unbeaten streak by a top European club in the era of European competitions (51 matches).
