According to Bild, after Schalke suffered the tragedy of being overturned with a 3-5 loss against Darmstadt, the club has decided to sack manager Gerrats.
The report states that Gerrats said his goodbyes to the team today and left the Schalke base after packing his belongings.
The 42-year-old Gerrats retired from playing in 2017 and joined the coaching staff at Union Saint-Gilloise in 2019. He served as head coach of Union Saint-Gilloise between July 2022 and June 2023.
In October 2023, Gerrats took over Schalke, leading the team in a total of 33 matches with a record of 12 wins, 7 draws, and 14 losses. Schalke currently stands 14th in the 2. Bundesliga with a record of 1 win, 1 draw, and 4 losses.
