Recently, in an interview on AUF TV’s “La Quinta Tribuna” show, Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde revealed that he once had reservations about Coach Carlo Ancelotti due to a positional change.
Valverde has since established himself as a key player in the Madrid midfield, excelling both centrally and on the wings. He admitted that he initially struggled with the coach’s instructions. Valverde explained, “Now I appreciate every chance I get and adapt to the coach’s demands. When I first started working with Ancelotti, I was very angry, just thinking, ‘Why do I have to change my position?’ As I matured in the game, I realized that if the coach wants me in a different role, I need to embrace it and give everything for the team. Ancelotti taught me a lot, and playing for Real Madrid is not easy – you have to seize opportunities when they come.”
Valverde went on to discuss Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League triumph, where they defeated Borussia Dortmund earlier this month to secure their 15th European title. He said, “It’s a unique feeling, and I’m incredibly proud to have achieved all this in front of my family and those who have been with me throughout my journey. They’re genuinely thrilled to see me accomplish something so significant. It still feels like a dream, but my family keeps reminding me to cherish these moments.”
The Uruguayan also paid tribute to his retiring midfield partner, Toni Kroos, who will hang up his boots after the Euros. Valverde stated, “Kroos will always be respected and loved in my home, and he acknowledges that we, his teammates, are part of his success. His words can lift me up when things aren’t going well. Players like him will be missed both on and off the pitch for their calm demeanor.”
After achieving great success with Real Madrid, Valverde now has his sights set on winning the Copa América. He commented, “Even after winning the Champions League, I must keep moving forward. A major goal in my life now is to win the Copa América. Winning is always enjoyable. Everyone who comes to Madrid dreams of winning trophies and achieving greatness, and it’s difficult, but that hunger must remain. Winning the Champions League is the pinnacle,看似 straightforward but actually challenging.”
