On July 30, Chinese table tennis star Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha successfully won the gold medal in the mixed doubles event at the Paris Olympics. However, an unexpected incident occurred after the match when Wang Chuqin’s racket was stepped on and broken by a photographer on site.
Wang Chuqin felt extremely dissatisfied and, during his conversation with his coach, demanded, “Report them.” Later, when speaking to reporters, he also shared his thoughts on the incident.
He said, “The photographer stepped on my racket and broke it. Although they’re an Olympic photographer, such behavior shouldn’t happen.”
“I think this situation made me lose control a bit. I don’t understand why they would do something like this, but since it happened, there’s nothing that can be done about it. It’s fate, and I can still play with a backup racket.”
According to on-site photos, Wang Chuqin had placed his racket on a suitcase at the side of the court after winning the championship, which was then stepped on and broken by a photographer who rushed onto the court for photos. And just this afternoon, Wang Chuqin still has to participate in the singles table tennis competition.
