According to recent reports from The Athletic, Brazilian local media, and journalists, West Ham United have no intention of parting with their midfielder Lucas Paqueta on loan, and they will not entertain the idea of his return to his former club Flamengo.
Flamengo recently attempted to sign Paqueta on a temporary deal, but the Hammers are unwilling to negotiate and plan to retain the midfielder as a key figure in their squad.
Paqueta had been under investigation by the English Football Association (FA) for allegedly deliberately picking up a yellow card to benefit around 60 people. If found guilty, he could face a 10-year ban. However, the player has denied all allegations.
Currently representing Brazil in the Copa América, Paqueta had hoped to rejoin Flamengo during the FA’s investigation. He is not provisionally suspended and remains eligible to play for both his national team and club. After the Brazilian Football Confederation sought clarification from the FA on his eligibility, Paqueta was cleared to participate in this summer’s Copa América.
