Zirkzee: Ibrahimovic is a player I admire very much, but I prefer Ronaldinho

The official Manchester United website published an exclusive interview with Zirkzee. Despite still being a bit unaccustomed to expressing himself in English, the Dutch star stated that his experience at Bayern Munich will help his career at Manchester United, and revealed that he admires Ibrahimovic, but prefers Ronaldinho.

Regarding Manchester United, Zirkzee said: “I think this (leaving Bologna, who can play in the Champions League, to join Manchester United) proves a lot. I have great trust in the team and feel very good about it. This was not a difficult decision. I love Bologna, but Manchester United gave me a very, very good feeling, and I am also confident in the club’s future plans.”

Talking about his characteristics, Zirkzee said: “I am very creative, with good ball control skills, sometimes highly unpredictable. I enjoy those team activities for fun, not the solo kind. Additionally, I believe you must please the fans who come to watch the game, making them satisfied with the match.”

Speaking about his time at Bayern Munich, Zirkzee said: “I think both at Bayern and at Manchester United, you need to hold yourself to the highest standards every day. There’s not much difference. Manuel (Neuer) is a great person, arguably one of the best goalkeepers in history, so scoring against him in training at Bayern was no easy feat. It was an honor to train with such players. I had a wonderful time at Bayern. I think if you ask any young player who was there at the time, they would only have positive things to say about their time at Bayern. I am grateful for that period, but now I am at Manchester United!”

Talking about his idols, Zirkzee said: “Without a doubt, Ronaldinho is my hero! As I grew up, Ibrahimovic became someone I admired too, but when it comes to favorites, it’s still Ronaldinho.”

Zirkzee expressed that he hopes to make his mother proud: “I hope that now she can forgive me for coming home late or breaking something at home. Those were things that happened when I was young, forgetting the time because of playing football and coming home late. Now everything is fine.”
