Jakarta – Ducati Lenovo rider Francesco Bagnaia is determined to make amends for his setback at the American MotoGP in Austin, Texas, during the 2022 Circuit of the Americas (COTA) event.

Last year, Bagnaia was a key player, securing pole position and winning the sprint race. However, a crash cost him the main event, and he failed to finish. The reigning champion has arrived in the US with renewed determination to fight for victory.

“I arrive in America with motivation, ready to rectify my mistakes. Last year, we were competitive all weekend; if not for the accident, we would have won on Sunday,” Bagnaia said, as quoted by ANTAARA on April 13th. “I expect even more fast and competitive riders this season, but I’m optimistic for this weekend after strong performances in the first two series.”

The Italian rider anticipates a challenging season with quick competitors, especially at COTA, which he holds in high regard. “The American Grand Prix is one of my favorite MotoGP calendar tracks. The track is fantastic, and I love Austin; the atmosphere is unique,” he adds.

Bastianini, Bagnaia’s teammate, had a podium finish with Ducati in 2022, still wearing a Gresini racing uniform. “I’m happy to be back in the States after missing the race due to shoulder injury. COTA is a track I really enjoy, and it holds special memories from my second MotoGP win in 2022,” said Bastianini.

Having secured pole and a second-place finish in Portugal, Bastianini enters the US with momentum. “After Portugal, I arrive in Austin feeling motivated and confident. I expect an intense race, but we’re well-prepared,” he shared.

“We have a solid foundation and a clear understanding of areas for improvement, so we’re resolved to reassert ourselves this weekend,” Bastianini concluded.
