Jakarta – The LCR Honda team is currently busy searching for a replacement for Alex Rins, who has decided to move to the factory Yamaha team. Several names have emerged as candidates, one of which is Johann Zarco.
The Pramac Ducati Racing rider is reportedly open to the idea of joining Honda’s satellite team. Zarco says that moving to LCR would present a new challenge for him.
“If I am that person (the candidate), I would be proud,” Zarco said, acknowledging that Honda’s RC213V motorcycle is currently facing significant issues.
“It wouldn’t be a bad challenge. If you think about winning, being at the front, fighting, just like I’ve been doing for the past few years, it’s clear that the right place is Ducati, because it’s the best bike. We can see that on the track,” the Frenchman stated.
“It’s great that Honda is interested. It’s obvious that it’s pleasing to have a team interested, even if they are struggling. We have to consider that,” he added.
However, Zarco mentioned that he remains committed to staying with Ducati, both in the factory and satellite teams, which are dominating the 2023 MotoGP season.
“But my goal is to use this winning bike and be part of a winning team at Ducati. We’re leading the championship with Pramac. Jorge (Martin) and I feel good together, so why not continue?” he said.
