On April 12, the nation’s first “Electric Motorcycles Urban Obstacle Race” kicked off in the Lower Haili Ancient Street of Nanbin Road, Chongqing. Eleven teams from Chongqing, Beijing, Guangdong, and other regions, consisting of a total of 40 participants, took part in the event, competing against the city’s steep slopes and vibrant atmosphere.

Chongqing, known as the 8D Magic City with its mountainous terrain, offered an ideal setting for the race, with its unique “steps” and distinctive local charm presenting both excitement and challenges to the contestants.
“Motorcycle sports inherently appeal to thrill-seekers, adventurers, and those who value individuality, particularly among young people. With the integration of new technology and fresh challenges, electric motorcycles align with the younger generation’s pursuit of high-tech products. This sport could become the next popular outdoor activity among the youth,” said Tan Xiaolu, Vice President of the Chongqing Motorcycles Sports Association.
Going forward, the Chongqing Motorcycles Sports Association plans to organize more electric motorcycle urban obstacle races across various districts and counties in the city. Five additional events are scheduled for the coming months of 2024.
