MXGP, along with F1, MotoGP, and WRC, is one of the world’s top four motorbike racing events. As an international A-class event, it enjoys a massive following and significant influence globally. Under the eager anticipation of motocross enthusiasts worldwide, MXGP will return to China, landing in Shanghai from September 14th to 16th, 2024.

The competition venue is the Shanghai International Off-road Racing Circuit in Fengxian Bay, which features the only FIM-standard off-road track in China, designed in the shape of “Xian,” reflecting Fengxian’s cultural concept of “honoring virtuous people and emulating their excellence.” This marks the return of MXGP to China after its first edition in 2019 and will become a long-term hosting location in Shanghai Fengxian. The event aims to enhance Fengxian’s international profile, contribute to the formation of Shanghai’s “Auto in the North, Motorcycles in the South” top motorsports landscape, and support Shanghai’s endeavor to become a world-class sports city.

The 2019 event generated direct economic benefits of 76 million RMB and indirect benefits of 178 million RMB. This year’s race will be upgraded comprehensively, featuring over 70 riders from 33 teams across 22 countries, accompanied by more than 300 team personnel, and expecting nearly 50,000 fans to cheer on-site. It will have a profound positive impact on the integration and development of “sports, culture, tourism, business, and exhibition” in Shanghai Fengxian, accelerating local tourism, hospitality, and catering industries and promoting the overall upgrading of the sports industry chain. It will also further popularize and develop motorcycle sports culture in China.

Through this event, China will showcase its influence and organizational capabilities in international motorcycle competitions, providing a platform for domestic enthusiasts to interact and learn from world-class riders.

We hope to leverage the ‘sport for body, sports for business, and sports-tourism integration’ to make Fengxian an ideal destination for leisure tourism and a fertile ground for investment.”

Vice Chairman Yao Ling of the China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Federation noted that MXGP’s long-term presence in Fengxian would be like F1, FE, and Olympic qualification events, serving as a window for international exchange, a bridge connecting to the world, and providing opportunities to showcase Fengxian to the global audience, further enhancing its international recognition and influence.

During the exchange, Ms. Li Juan, representing Honda Motorcycle Sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., an MXGP China round partner, stated that Honda, as an industry representative, would work with MXGP to bring motor sports to a broader public audience, igniting passion and interest in motorcycle sports.

Deputy Bank Manager Song Haiying of Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank Fengxian Branch mentioned that since its involvement in the 2019 event, the branch’s international business had rapidly grown, ranking among the top in the parent bank. The bank will continue its comprehensive cooperation with MXGP China, fully supporting local economic development and sports affairs, contributing to the construction of “Xian City.”

The event received strong support from various renowned brands. At the signing ceremony, the China Bank, Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank, Honda China, Yongming Electronics, and others signed agreements with Huihui to engage in deep cooperation with the event. With the government’s strong support, more partners are expected to join this top-tier global competition, fostering the vibrant growth of motorcycle sports in China.
