In Jakarta, it has been revealed that MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo remains loyal to Yamaha despite the fervent transfer market speculation. Yamaha reportedly went to great lengths to secure his services, offering a staggering salary.
Quartararo’s contract was set to expire at the end of the 2024 MotoGP season, leading many to speculate about a potential move. However, on April 5th, it was announced that he would extend his stay with Yamaha for two more seasons. What made headlines was Yamaha’s extravagant deal to keep him on board.
According to Crash.net on April 7th, sources confirmed that Quartararo’s new contract is valued at a staggering €12 million ($1200 million), translating to approximately IDR 2,068 billion per year for him.
The report highlighted that, on paper, his salary is three times that of Francesco Bagnaia’s at Ducati. Some reports even suggested that Quartararo rejected a move to Aprilia next season due to a perceived lack of financial incentive, with a proposed salary of only €40 million ($40 million) annually.
The Yamaha deal not only guarantees a substantial salary but also includes performance-based bonuses, such as race victories and championship aspirations, making it a truly “crazy” offer for the Frenchman.
