If MotoGP Racing Is Getting Boring, Casey Stoner Hopes Kawasaki-Suzuki ‘Ngebut’ Again

Jakarta – The factory teams of Kawasaki and Suzuki have officially left MotoGP. Rider Casey Stoner believes that the competition on the track is starting to wane and hopes that these two departing giants can “race fiercely” again.

Stoner has never fully supported the development of aero and downforce, which has led to MotoGP’s current speeds being higher than before.

However, Stoner feels that the current races are often dominated by one name, Ducati. From this situation, Stoner, who has won twice with both Ducati and Honda, thinks there needs to be more diversity in competition.

“We still believe you can’t stop that kind of development,” Stoner said in an interview with TNT Sports, as reported by Crash.net on Sunday, December 31st.

According to Stoner, manufacturers don’t need changes in technical regulations for the street to regulate what they can do. All parties just need a set of rules that remain in effect for ten years.

“Manufacturers come in, knowing what they can put aside for the budget, realistically. Bring back Suzuki, Kawasaki, other manufacturers,

“They know the rules are the same for 10 years, they’re not going to keep falling behind, saying ‘now we don’t have a budget’,” he added.

Stoner feels that MotoGP has been trying to emulate Formula 1, but with more electronic aids. Sprint races, which were a significant addition to the sport this season as part of that effort, should not be mimicked, according to Stoner.

“We don’t need to copy Formula 1. We race because the bikes are a foot and a half wide, you can get eight bikes into a corner. You can’t do that in F1.

“We must never try to mimic them with sprint races. Just keep it like this. You’ll have the same riders sitting on their seats every week,” Stoner concluded.
