Jakarta – Maya Watono, Director of Marketing and Consumer Experience at InJourney, has ensured that the turnover from the 2023 MotoGP event reaches IDR 4.5 trillion at the national level.
“At the national level, we are certain to penetrate above IDR 4.5 trillion. More than before. But indeed, this figure hasn’t come out yet. But it’s certainly over IDR 4.5 trillion,” she said during a meeting at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 31st.
On the local level, Maya mentioned that the turnover has reached IDR 914 billion.
This figure increased by IDR 307.3 billion compared to last year, which was IDR 606.7 billion.
Furthermore, Maya stated that the increase in the turnover in the Lombok area, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is due to the growth of accommodation businesses.
“Accommodation has increased, hotels, then FNB also increased, food and such have increased. The increase comes from there,” she explained.
Previously, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney targeted a turnover exceeding IDR 4.5 trillion during the 2023 MotoGP event. This currency turnover would particularly boost the Lombok region in NTB.
The world-class motorcycle race took place from October 13th to 15th, 2023, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit in Lombok, NTB.
Maya Watono, InJourney’s Director of Marketing and Consumer Experience, was optimistic that the turnover during this year’s MotoGP event would increase compared to last year, especially in the Lombok region.
Additionally, Maya explained that the financial turnover during the implementation of MotoGP was supported by a series of economic activities in Lombok, such as flights, accommodation, MSMEs, and other businesses.
“If there wasn’t significant support, it would be different with aviation, accommodation, job absorption, businesses, micro, small, and medium enterprises. These are parameters, indirect but not changing, but we added some measurement parameters,” Maya said during a meeting in the Sarinah area, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 3rd.
Maya explained that the calculation of the multiplier effect or multiple effect this year could also be seen from the trend of local economic activities during the event.
“We will measure this from last year’s MotoGP, and of course, we hope to see an improvement year on year. If earlier we saw the growth rate of sports at around 8%, yes, we also hope it will be around 8-10%,” she said.
