In Jakarta, Dorna Sports Director Paolo Ciabatti made a surprising revelation about Marc Marquez’s salary for the 2024 MotoGP season with Gresini Racing. According to Ciabatti, the Spanish ace will not receive any financial compensation when he strengthens Gresini’s lineup in 2024.
During the 2023 season, Marquez was already the highest-paid rider, reportedly earning 20 million euros (approximately 3.66 trillion Indonesian rupiah) annually with Repsol Honda. However, his move to the satellite team requires a shift in financial arrangements. Chabatti believes that Gresini, as a satellite outfit, cannot afford the same level of salary as Repsol Honda for Marquez.
Ciabatti explained that riders like Marquez are choosing to race for satellite teams out of a sense of pride, saying, “As far as I know, it’s unpaid. But you should ask Gresini and Marquez directly if they wish to comment.” He clarified that Marquez will participate without payment, acknowledging that Gresini would naturally be unable to match the typical salary for Marquez.
In the 2024 MotoGP, Marc Marquez will join Gresini Racing for a one-season stint, where he will form a sibling duo alongside his brother Alex Marquez.
