Jakarta – LCR Honda’s Yuki Takahashi has been confirmed to miss this weekend’s Australian MotoGP. The Japanese ace is still recovering from a finger injury following surgery.
The race in Australia is scheduled for Monday, October 17. Takahashi will be replaced by Tetsuta Nagashima.
This marks the second consecutive race that the 30-year-old rider will sit out. He was previously replaced by Itoh when he missed the Thai Grand Prix due to the same issue.
Takahashi sustained the finger injury during the Aragon MotoGP a week ago. However, he was still eager to participate in the Japanese GP.
After the home race, he underwent surgery for a tendon tear in his finger. He underwent two surgeries in total to recover from the injury.
Takahashi currently ranks 18th in the 2022 MotoGP standings with 46 points. Leading the pack is defending champion Fabio Quartararo, who has amassed 219 points.
Quartararo’s championship position is not yet secure, as the French rider is only two points ahead of second-placed Francesco Bagnaia.
