Wang Chuqin Responds to Upset Exit: Changing Rackets Not an Excuse, My Own Mistakes Led to the Loss

On July 31, Chinese table tennis player Wang Chuqin suffered a surprising defeat against Sweden’s Truls Moregard in the men’s singles round of 32 at the Olympics. After the match, he addressed the upset.

Following the mixed doubles final the day before, Wang Chuqin’s racket was accidentally stepped on and damaged by a photographer during the celebrations, forcing him to use a backup racket for this match. However, in his interview, he stated that this was not the main reason for his loss.

Wang Chuqin said, “I think it was mainly due to many problems on my part; I made a lot of mistakes, which led to today’s failure.”
