Alfa Romeo F1 Team’s representative, Blavi, recently issued a statement addressing Williams F1 Team, expressing that Alfa Romeo has “the necessary drivers and ambition” to challenge Williams for seventh place in the constructors’ championship at the season’s end.
In the recent Qatar F1 Grand Prix, Alfa Romeo F1 Team delivered an impressive performance. Adopting different strategies for their two drivers, the team demonstrated strong execution, excellent speed, and stability, ultimately scoring their highest points haul of the season with six points. This surpassed Haas F1 Team by four points and left them just seven points behind Williams.
Said Blavi, “Building on our performance in Qatar, we need to keep progressing and growing. Our target remains seventh in the constructors’ standings. It will be a tough fight, but we have the right people, drivers, and ambition. Of course, it won’t be easy, but we won’t make it easy for our opponents either.”
Williams F1 Team, Alfa Romeo’s main rival, has also made significant strides this season. Currently, they sit seventh in the constructors’ standings with 23 points, all contributed by their lead driver, Albon. However, this is a vulnerability for them, as both Alfa Romeo F1 Team drivers are scoring points, putting Alfa Romeo in a more favorable position.
Particularly, Guanyu Zhou, who significantly trailed his teammate last season, has mounted a strong comeback this year, closing the gap in points to World Champion teammate Bottas. For Zhou to secure seventh place ahead of Williams, his performance will be crucial.
