In the opening set, Kecmanovic quickly found his rhythm, breaking Zhang’s serve in the first game and maintaining the lead until the end. In the seventh game, Zhang’s first-serve percentage dipped, allowing Kecmanovic another break point, which he converted for a 6-2 set win.
In the second set, Zhang adjusted his game, being more cautious on his service games, denying Kecmanovic many opportunities. Both players held their serves, leading to a tiebreak. In the tiebreak, Kecmanovic again seized the initiative, securing an early mini-break and a 3-0 lead. He ultimately won the tiebreak 7-2, sealing the victory.
Advancing to the second round, Kecmanovic will face fourth seed Baez, who had a first-round bye, for a spot in the quarterfinals. As for Zhang Zhizhen, he will head to London as the 32nd seed for Wimbledon, aiming to secure his first main-draw win at the prestigious tournament.
