Wimbledon 2024 Day 3 Schedule: Four Chinese Players Aim for Round of 32, Shapovalov Faces Berrettini

The 2024 Wimbledon Championships enter their third day with a slightly congested schedule due to rain disruptions on the previous day. Four Chinese players—Zhang Zhizhen, Shang Juncheng, Zhu Lin, and Wang Yafan—will strive for places in the third round. World No. 1 Shapovalov’s clash with former finalist Berrettini headlines Centre Court.

Zhang Zhizhen

China’s top-ranked player Zhang Zhizhen faces Germany’s Struff in the second match on Court 15. This will be their third encounter, with Zhang yet to secure a victory. The big-serving Struff, known for his grass-court prowess, presents a formidable challenge despite Zhang’s higher world ranking.

Shang Juncheng

Shang takes on No. 10 seed Dimitrov in the third match on Court 3, marking their first meeting. Shang is yet to defeat a Top 10 player; can he script a surprise here?

Zhu Lin

Wang Yafan

Zhu meets No. 25 seed Pavlyuchenkova in the third match on Court 18, a rematch after a decade. Wang faces No. 12 seed Keys in the fifth match on Court 2; they previously met in Wuhan in 2018, with Keys prevailing in straight sets.

Gauff

Former World No. 1 Naomi Osaka, playing on a wildcard, competes on Centre Court against No. 19 seed Navarro. Defending champion Alcaraz and women’s singles No. 2 seed Gauff will also feature on Court 1.

Doubles action also commences, with “Olympic pair” Wang Xinyu/Zheng Saisai and “Jam combo” Guo Hanyu/Jiang Xinxiu making appearances. Veterans Zhang Shuai and Miwa Kato, part of the Paris Olympics doubles team, team up for the women’s doubles.

Centre Court matches begin at 8:30 PM Beijing Time, with Court 1 starting at 8:00 PM, and all other courts commencing at 6:00 PM Beijing Time.
