On July 17th, Beijing time, the Laver Cup announced that Rud and Tsitsipas will join this year’s European team. Their teammates include Nadal, Alcaraz, Medvedev, and Zverev.
“Casper and Stefanos are experienced Laver Cup players,” said Bjorn Borg, captain of Team Europe and Swedish tennis legend. “They know how to win points. They have been involved in some intense battles and have previously lifted the trophy. I’m delighted to have them on board.”
Meanwhile, the full roster for Team World has yet to be confirmed. Led by Captain John McEnroe, it will feature Alex de Minaur, ranked sixth in the world, along with three American players: Fritz, Paul, and Shelton, with two spots still to be officially announced.
The 2024 Laver Cup will take place from September 20 to 22 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany. Last year, Team World, comprised of Fritz, Paul, Aliassime, Tiafoe, Shelton, and Cerundolo, triumphed over Team Europe (Rud, Hurkacz, Rublev, Monfils, Davidovich, and Fokina) with a total score of 13-2, successfully defending their title.
