Zhizhen led 6-4 in the decisive tiebreak and had two consecutive match points, but he couldn’t convert them. Krawietz rallied to win four straight points and secure his first grass tour victory since 2021. Krawietz will face either fifth seed Musetti or wildcard Perrelli in the second round.
Simultaneously, at the WTA 250 Nottingham event, Chinese player Zhu Lin also suffered a disappointing defeat. She missed a match point in the first round and, after nearly three hours of play, lost 6-7(4), 6-3, 5-7 to qualifier Stefani, preventing her from claiming her first grass victory this year. Another Chinese player, Wang Yafan, is also competing in the tournament and will take on American Krueger in the opening round.
