Tennis CTS New Ranking Impact – Education Leads the Way

At 00:01 in the morning, just one minute after the registration channel for the China Junior Tennis ∙ Guangzhou Star City Challenge opened, the name of the first young participant, “Chen Dongjun,” appeared on the platform of the Tennis Record mini-program. The journalist immediately dialed Dongjun’s mother: “It was the child’s tennis coach who recommended this new CTS ranking tournament in Guangzhou to us. The coach only mentioned that these rankings are quite useful, but I can’t explain the specifics clearly.”

The journalist learned from the official website of the Chinese Tennis Association that the “China Junior Tennis ∙ Guangzhou Star Challenge CTS250” is a new event jointly launched by the Chinese Tennis Association and the China Student Sports Federation under the Ministry of Education, which features CTS rankings. The biggest difference from the CTJ rankings familiar to parents in the past is that CTS is a two-way recognition under the national trend of “integration of sports and education,” while the CTJ rankings under the Chinese Tennis Association are merely referenced by educational departments. An authoritative figure pointed out that the difference between “recognition” and “reference” will manifest itself fundamentally over the next few years. The Chinese Tennis Association and the China Student Sports Federation have reached an agreement that CTS points can be directly converted into CTJ points. Dongjun’s mother told the journalist: “Tennis is just part of our child’s comprehensive quality education. In addition to three tennis classes per week, there are many other extracurricular courses, and we hope our child receives education in various aspects.”

Guangzhou Region Registration Entry

The mother of the well-known brother duo Yin Xiang and Yin Lang in the Guangzhou youth tennis circle also grabbed sign-up spots for the U10 and U12 divisions at the first opportunity, having similarly registered for this event on the recommendation of her children’s coach. She told the journalist: “We trust that the coaches understand the value of these rankings very well, so I quickly signed up my children.” Various youth tournaments across Guangdong Province are scheduled back-to-back during the summer of 2024, with a “when you finish, I’ll take over” momentum. From the tournament calendar published on the official website of the Chinese Tennis Association, it is understood that the Guangzhou region competition of the “China Junior Tennis ∙ City Star Challenge” will start on August 2nd and continue for eight consecutive weeks, spanning September and October, setting up stages every weekend at the Golden Grand Slam Tennis Center (Poly World Trade Expo Branch) in Pazhou, showcasing strong follow-up power and strength.

The Guangzhou Golden Grand Slam Tennis Center, which has been exclusively authorized by the Chinese Tennis Association to promote this new ranking event, adds a bold stroke to the Guangzhou youth tennis competition scene with its newly constructed 11 courts that meet US Open standards. Zhang Jinrong, founder of Golden Grand Slam, said: “Creating a tennis world for the children of Guangzhou, providing them with the best competition conditions, is a duty we cannot shirk, and it is the responsibility and commitment of us tennis enthusiasts.”
