The “China Mini Tennis ∙ City Star Challenge (CTS250)” weekend tournaments, which have been a sensation in 42 cities across the country, are scheduled to be held at the Guangzhou Golden Grand Slam Tennis Center (Pazhou) on August 2. This event, which earns China Tennis Association CTS points, is a crucial component of the China Mini Tennis Project. Any child aged 4 to 12 years old, born between January 1, 2012, and January 1, 2020, is eligible to participate. The official registration channel designated by the China Tennis Association – the Tennis Record mini-program – will open for registrations on July 10.
The selection of host venues for the “China Mini Tennis ∙ Guangzhou Star Challenge” was conducted under the strict guidance of the China Tennis Association. The Guangzhou Golden Grand Slam Tennis Center (Pazhou) stood out from numerous competitors due to its superior court conditions, extensive experience in organizing events, and convenient transportation, accommodation, and dining options, securing the exclusive rights to host the Guangzhou leg of the tournament.
The “China Mini Tennis ∙ Guangzhou Star Challenge” will feature three competition categories: the U4-U8 Fun Group, the U8-U12 Offline Group, and the U8-U12 Online Group. Three stages of the Guangzhou leg will be held on August 2, 23, and 30, with the event on August 30 being a double points CTS500-level tournament. Six more stages will be held from September 7 to October 11, all taking place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, including two double points CTS500-level tournaments on September 21 and October 11. Any young tennis enthusiast meeting the age criteria (regardless of nationality or region) can register with valid identification. For the offline group competitions in the Guangzhou leg, there will be 64 slots per age category, with the first 48 slots (based on the order of registration and payment) qualifying for the main draw. Participants from the 49th slot onwards will compete in the preliminary rounds of their respective categories, with the winners advancing to the main draw. Based on the ranking by points earned in the Guangzhou leg, participants will qualify for spots in the national regional (fifth division) and final tournaments, where points will be integrated with the China Tennis Association’s Junior CTJ rankings.
Registrations for all competition categories will be processed through the Tennis Record mini-program, officially designated by the China Tennis Association. The registration portal for the Guangzhou leg will open at midnight on July 10, 2024.
The U8-U12 Offline Group will be divided into 10 individual events across three age categories. The U8-U12 Online Group will utilize the ACEye Smart Tennis System officially certified by the China Tennis Association for six individual competitions in serving, return of serve, baseline shots, volleys, overheads, and slice shots, based on age categories, and these results will be included in the national and Guangzhou rankings. The U4-U8 Fun Group will include 16 competitive events for children aged U4-U8. (By Zeng Yan)
